A5 Booklet Printing Terminology Explained
Single Fold and Stapled (Saddle Stitched)
Not 100% sure what a particular term means? Read on for clarification on single folds, A5 sizing, stapled and saddle stitch binding. You will be a printing pro in no time!
Sizing – Single Fold/Half Fold/Gate Fold
When closed, A5 booklets measure 148mm x 210mm(*2,3). When open (and turned to landscape orientation), they measure the same as an A4 page of paper.
Saddle Stitched or Stapled? Are They the Same?
In print terms, when a book, magazine, catalogue, or other printed document is saddle stitched it means staples are used to bind the pages together(*4). Historically, book pages were hand sewn thus the term ‘stitch.’
